Tri-Parish Director of Evangelization and Christian Formation

 

Reports To

This director position reports to the Tri-Parish Pastor.

 

Job Overview

The Tri-Parish Director of Evangelization and Christian Formation upholds the mission of the Church to evangelize and bring others to Christ.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Faith Formation of Youth

• Work with the Faith Formation advisory committee to ensure that overall goals and vision of faith formation in the tri-parish is being carried out.
• Prepare and mail out registration letters, register children, and keep accurate records for all tri-parish youth involved in Faith Formation.
• Recruit and train catechists and help catechists with lesson plans and materials.
• Schedule and ensure that the Circle of Grace Program is completed for each grade.
• Make sure Youth Sacramental Preparation is complete and appropriate. For example, in conjunction with teachers, keep records of required service hours for Confirmation.
• Work with the Pastor to schedule events like the reception of Sacraments, learning centers, and classes.
• Implement the Catechesis of The Good Shepherd program to begin in the Fall of 2019.
• Organize the monthly Youth Masses.
• Foster strong parental relationships and involvement.
• Attend Diocesan Faith Formation Catechetical Days.

 

Adult Outreach

• Work with the Adult Formation Group to implement adult formation programs such as Bible Studies, Formed, etc.
• Organize ministry to the home-bound and consider needs of the elderly. For example, organize volunteers to:
  • Take communion to the home bound
  • Visit with those who have recently had a loss
  • Provide rides to Mass
  • And other volunteer opportunities in this realm
• Gain a deeper knowledge of intentional discipleship in a parish and work with others to implement it.
• Consider and implement ways to reach out to those active, inactive and the unchurched in our community.

 

Youth Outreach

• Organize youth opportunities for growth in the faith, including Catholic Heart Work Camp, Steubenville Conference, Camp Summit, and Totus Tuus.
• Encourage parent involvement in the ministry to the young people in the parish, correspond with youth and parents as needed.
• Schedule sessions for junior and senior high events each month.
• Plan and carry out service projects with youth and parents each year.
• With help from the fundraising committee, plan and carry out fundraising activities to support the youth programs and trips. Include youth participation in these activities.
• Collaborate with tri-parish manager on financial administration of programs.

 

While detailed, this is not intended to be an exhaustive list, other duties may be assigned by the Pastor. This position will work in close conjunction with the Pastor and Tri-Parish Manager.

 

Qualifications

• Prayerful, practicing Catholic who is articulate and confident in matters of the Catholic faith
• Caring and compassionate for all ages of people
• Adept at modern forms of communication (Facebook, email, texting)
• Knowledgable of Word and Excel
• Needs to be organized, self-motivated, and driven
• Willing to learn new ways to present the Gospel (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd)
• Willing to create and lead organizations like youth group, Bible studies, elderly outreach
• Have the desire and ability to become an active member of the tri-parish community (presence at football games, fish fries, etc.)
• Can lead and delegate to others
• Not easily discouraged!!
• College education in theology or Catholic Studies is preferred, but not necessary
