Vision

The Catholic Men’s Conference seeks to develop and foster a community of men centered on the true man Jesus Christ and to inspire men to follow Him in the path of holiness.

Mission

To inspire men to strive after holiness through unity and discipleship with Jesus Christ and other holy men.

Goals

  • To help men develop a more intimate friendship and discipleship with Jesus Christ
  • To aid men in developing Christ-centered leadership skills to be able to more effectively lead their families and communities.
  • To aid parishes in developing a vibrant men’s group in every parish in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester
  • To increase the presence of men in Church functions
  • To increase the quality of life for men and their families
  • To increase an openness to vocations in young men

Four Pillars

A man's heart has it's own unique characteristics that make it identifiably masculine. Man of God, therefore, seeks to inspire men to pursue holiness by structuring their lives with these Four Pillars; Conversion, Discipleship, Evangelization and the Sacraments. Here are some quotes by our Holy Father Pope Francis regarding these Four Pillars.

Conversion

I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since “no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord”. The Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk; whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realize that he is already there, waiting for us with open arms. Now is the time to say to Jesus: “Lord, I have let myself be deceived; in a thousand ways I have shunned your love, yet here I am once more, to renew my covenant with you. I need you. Save me once again, Lord, take me once more into your redeeming embrace.

Pope Francis

Discipleship

Christ has confidence in young people and entrusts them with the very future of his mission, “Go and make disciples”. Go beyond the confines of what is humanly possible and create a world of brothers and sisters!

Pope Francis (7/22/13, Garden)

Evangelization

We need saints without cassocks, without veils - we need saints with jeans and tennis shoes. We need saints that go to the movies that listen to music, that hang out with their friends. We need saints that place God in first place ahead of succeeding in any career. We need saints that look for time to pray every day and who know how to be in love with purity, chastity and all good things. We need saints - saints for the 21st century with a spirituality appropriate to our new time. We need saints that have a commitment to helping the poor and to make the needed social change. We need saints to live in the world, to sanctify the world and to not be afraid of living in the world by their presence in it. We need saints that drink Coca-Cola, that eat hot dogs, that surf the internet and that listen to their iPods. We need saints that love the Eucharist, that are not afraid or embarrassed to eat a pizza or drink a beer with their friends. We need saints who love the movies, dance, sports, theater. We need saints that are open sociable normal happy companions. we need saints who are in this world and who know how to enjoy the best in this world without being callous or mundane. We need saints.

Pope Francis (World Youth Day 2013)

Sacraments

The Eucharist is at the heart of “Christian initiation,” together with Baptism and Confirmation, and it constitutes the source of the Church’s life itself. From this Sacrament of love, in fact, flows every authentic journey of faith, of communion, and of witness. What we see when we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, the Mass, already gives us an intuition of what we are about to live. It is for this reason that commonly, when we approach this Sacrament, we speak of “receiving Communion,” of “taking Communion”: this means that by the power of the Holy Spirit, participation in Holy Communion conforms us in a singular and profound way to Christ, giving us a foretaste already now of the full communion with the Father that characterizes the heavenly banquet, where together with all the Saints we will have the joy of contemplating God face to face.
