WINONA, MN - October 26 - The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Center, located on the campus of Winona State University launched an appeal today to increase financial support for its growing ministry. Tom Parlin, Director, stated "with the recent addition of a FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) missionary team, the Newman Center ministry has grown from about 100 student participants in 2010 to over 500 participants today!" The Newman Center is funded in part by the Diocese of Winona as well as from private contributions. Additional funding is being sought to retain the FOCUS missionary team, to upgrade Newman Center Facilities to accommodate the growing numbers, to provide financial assistance for leadership training, to strengthen and expand programming and to expand the ministry to the WSU Campus at the University Center in Rochester.
