Annual Parish Financial Report

All parishes in the Diocese of Winona are required to file an Annual Financial Report to the Diocese of Winona Pastoral Center by August 31 of each year. The reporting period coincides with the fiscal year: July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. The pastor, lay trustees and the individual preparing the documents are expected to sign the Annual Financial Report.
All funds held in bank accounts, at the Diocese of Winona Deposit and Loan Fund and in other investment vehicles, such as stocks and bonds, (including parish endowments), must be disclosed on the Annual Financial Report. Annual activity in each fund or account must be included in the revenue and expense activity disclosed on the report.
The financial information contained in the Annual Report should be communicated to the Parish Finance Council on an annual basis. A summary version of the report may be provided to parishioners.
The Diocese of Winona uses the Annual Financial Report as a tool for financial accountability, internal financial analysis and historical record. In addition, the Annual Financial Report is used to determine the diocesan assessment, pension plan for priests assessment and annual diocesan appeal target. It is important to receive accurate and timely financial information so that these objectives can be obtained.
June 30, 2012: End of 2011 / 2012 Fiscal Year
July 1, 2012: Beginning of 2012 / 2013 Fiscal Year

August 31, 2012: Annual Parish Financial Reports due to the Diocese of Winona Pastoral Center
The Logos Accounting software package will automatically generate the year-end financial reports for you. The DOW custom reports are available via download from the Logos website. Click on the link below to update your current version, or to download it for the first time. (Hosted solution parishes: please contact Logos support for assistance with the custom report module).

When the reporting process is complete, the following items must be submitted to the Diocese of Winona Pastoral Center by August 31, 2012. Items 1 & 2 are generated automatically by Logos; items 3 & 4 must be completed in Excel or compatible spreadsheet program (click on the link for a blank template):
Paper – (Signed and Dated)
- Statement of Revenue over Expense
- Balance Sheet
- Statement of Parish Inventory & Historical Data (Excel format)
- Internal Control Questionnaire (Excel format)
Electronic – Via Logos (FTP), e-mail (reports@dow.org) or CD (3.5" floppies are no longer accepted)
- Backup of Parish Data

When completing the report, please be aware there are four separate tabs to complete in the report:
1. Statement of Revenue & Expense
2. Balance Sheet
3. Statement of Parish Inventory and Historical Data
4. Trial Balance
